What Happens When Windows 7 Support Ends?

 Blog

Windows 7 support is coming to an end. Are you prepared?

As of January 14th 2020, Windows 7 will finish support and reach its ‘end of life’. What does that mean for users? Microsoft will no longer be providing IT support and security updates to PCs and devices using Windows 7. Because of this, all new security threats to Windows 7 will not receive any ‘fixes’ from Microsoft.  This obviously has security implications for your business.

Can I still use Windows 7 after January 14th?

The simple answer is yes, however this is not recommended. As we stated above, any security issues that arise after this date will not be fixed by Microsoft. You will also find that support from 3rd Party security vendors may also start to be withdrawn.

What would ITM Tech recommend?

We recommend installing Windows 10. This installation comes at a cost, however, you will have access to security updates and support from Microsoft.

If you have questions about Windows 10 or feel you may need assistance in setting it up, don’t hesitate to contact us by phone at 045 409984. Alternatively, you can visit our website contact page, or email our helpdesk at helpdesk@wordpress-834370-3148848.cloudwaysapps.com.
