Google Docs Logo

Over the last few days, Google Docs has added viewing support for 12 more file formats as detailed below.

  • Microsoft Excel (.XLS and .XLSX)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 / 2010 (.PPTX)
  • Apple Pages (.PAGES)
  • Adobe Illustrator (.AI)
  • Adobe Photoshop (.PSD)
  • Autodesk AutoCad (.DXF)
  • Scalable Vector Graphics (.SVG)
  • PostScript (.EPS, .PS)
  • TrueType (.TTF)
  • XML Paper Specification (.XPS)

So, what does this mean for you, the user. Well simply put, it means that you no longer have to open up a seperate application to view any of the above types of files. This has the knock on effect of speeding up viewing times for those file types.
